Warden (Seton Dean, East Lothian)
We are looking for a volunteer Warden to be our eyes on the ground at Seton Dean in East Lothian.
Our volunteer wardens across our UK woods regularly walk routes through their wood and report issues to our Site Managers.
As optional extras, some of our wardens also monitor interesting wildlife in the wood and carry out minor maintenance and repairs, for example pruning back vegetation overhanging the paths, or repairing fences. This role requires availability to visit the wood throughout the year.
The warden role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys walking outdoors and is a very important way of helping us to care for our woodlands.
Seton Dean lies close to the coast at Seton Sands in Longniddry and is dominated by sycamore with some: elm ash oak elder and yew. Ground flora is predominated by a profusion of wild garlic radiating out from alongside the burn along with several scattered clumps of bluebells. The pleasant path within the wood follows the burn as it meanders north towards the coast.
For this role you will need access to a phone, the internet and an email address, as well as suitable outdoor clothing for the site – including sturdy footwear.
Anyone under 18 applying for this role must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered as a Woodland Trust volunteer.
