Speaker (Oban, Argyll and Bute)

We are looking a volunteer Speaker who stays in or close to Oban to give talks to groups and organisations in the area, spreading the word about the work that we do, and the ways in which the public can support us. We are looking to expand our network of wonderful speakers and will also be recruiting in other parts of Scotland.

Through their knowledge and enthusiasm, our Speakers are a key way for us to connect with the public and to be ambassadors for our work. If you enjoy meeting people, have experience of public speaking, and want to make a difference for woods and trees this could be the volunteer role for you.

As part of this volunteer role we would also like you to look for opportunities to give talks, perhaps via social media channels or by directly contacting community groups and organisations. At the Woodland Trust we are committed to reaching out to a diverse range of groups including young people, ethnic minorities and those connected to disability.

One of our aims is to diversify our engagement across the whole of Scotland, and to understand barriers, so that we can improve access to our woods and work in a meaningful way.

We particularly encourage applications from people connected with diverse communities across Scotland, for example, those who are from or connected to communities from minority ethnic backgrounds, and/or to young people, people with disabilities or people from the LGBTQ+ community. However, if you aren't from any of these communities we are still keen for you to apply if you are interested.

You will need access to a phone, a laptop, the internet, and an email address, as well as the ability to get to locations within roughly an hour’s commuting distance to the centre of Glasgow, either by car or public transport.
