At the Woodland Trust we believe that young people should have a say in the future of their planet. We want to ensure that in future years the Woodland Trust resonates with young people and that young people feel they have a place in the organisation. In 2023, we launched our Youth Council which has 4 key goals:

  1. Contributing to Woodland Trust decision making and strategic thinking
  2. Raising awareness of the Woodland Trust, especially with youth audiences
  3. Advocating for young people’s voices in the wider conservation sector
  4. Building connections on the ground

This is a unique opportunity to receive training, deepen your knowledge of conservation, create a lasting network, gain valuable personal / professional skills, all while being supported along the way and hopefully having lots of fun and creating a lasting impact!

Thank you for your interest in joining the Woodland Trust Youth Council. We’re looking for young people who can bring their own experiences, ideas and perspectives to help shape our work for woods, trees and people. Every applicant is different, and we want to hear your voice in a way that feels true to you.

We know some people use assistive tools, including generative AI, to help with writing. That’s absolutely fine where it supports accessibility or confidence, but your application should still reflect your real experiences. If you do use AI, please treat it as a prompt rather than something to copy directly, and make sure everything you submit is accurate and genuinely yours.

This opportunity is open to anyone aged from 16 to 25.

To achieve our vision of a world where woods and trees thrive for people and nature, we need to better reflect society and the communities we work in. All people, no matter their background, identity, ability, or circumstance, should benefit from trees. People of colour and disabled people are currently under-represented across the environment and conservation sector. If you identify as a person of colour and/or disabled, we particularly encourage you to apply.

Please contact us to discuss any additional support or adjustments you may need to complete your application.
