Our Working Groups help us to look after our wonderful sites across the UK. Carrying out a variety of practical tasks under the guidance of the Woodland Trust Site Manager, the Working Groups keep our sites looking great, keep our pathways accessible, and help us manage the woodland in line with our management plans. A great way to learn skills and meet new people, our Working Groups also directly contribute to the care and upkeep of valuable habitats.

The Dunollie Wood Working Group meets around once per month for activities on a variety of days in the week (sometimes weekdays, and sometimes weekends).

Covering 32 acres, Dunollie Wood is a fine example of Scotland’s rainforest - in fact it boasts one of the largest remnants of temperate rainforest in North Argyll. Only 2% of Scotland’s woodlands are rainforest which makes places like Dunollie vitally important. It stretches across the hills of Barra Mor and Barr Cruinn. Hazel trees drip with rare lichens, mosses and fungi. Bluebells carpet the woodland floor in spring, and the view over Oban Bay to the isles is something really special.

The woodland is being managed to restore and improve this special habitat, including the removal of non-native trees, shrubs and other plants that can cause damage to vulnerable features.
