Fire Warden (Smithills Estate, Bolton)

We are looking for volunteer Fire Wardens to be our eyes on the ground across our woodland estates. Regularly walking our sites and adjacent areas, our Firewatch Wardens will note any signs of potential wildfire events or sources of ignition (including fire-related anti-social behaviours) and will report issues to our Site Manager or to emergency services. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys walking outdoors to help us care for local woodland.

As well as reporting signs of wildfires, you will also have the opportunity to assist our response team in any emergency events. However, please note that this role does not to any degree involve the requirement to physically fight fires, or to intervene to prevent acts of arson, only to assist responders in a safe and proportionate capacity.

For this role you will need access to a phone, the internet and an email address, as well as suitable outdoor clothing for the site – including sturdy footwear.

Anyone under 18 applying for this role must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also registered as a Woodland Trust volunteer.
