Livestock Monitor (Plantation and Bluebell Wood)

Opportunity image

Help us care for grazing animals by regularly monitoring livestock on our sites. In this role you’ll check that our herd of sheep are all present and correct, carry out health observations and ensure that they are in safe surroundings.

Location: You must live within 30 minutes commute from Plantation and Bluebell Wood in Uphill, Weston-Super-Mare (BS23 4UH).

This is a trial of grazing on the land and we ask volunteers to commit to up to an hour, 1 day a week while the sheep are on the field.

No prior experience is needed and a training day will be organised to make sure you are confident to check the sheep.

  • Great work experience if you are interested in rural employment
  • A great excuse for a regular walk with a purpose
  • Opportunity to help restore grazing for the benefit of the field and wildlife
  • Returning historic integrity of the site

Please be aware that the sheep move on and off the field as needed and we'll ask you as volunteers to look at our Rota to see when you might be able to help! So this could be quite ad-hoc volunteering.
